The night sky over Moscow is very strange. It shimmers in a peculiar violet and is surprisingly bright, as if the dawn was just around the corner. This is due to the fact that at night it often has clouds reflecting the light of the city and the alleged air pollution causing this purple shimmer. According to the locals, this never really dark sky is normal and rather frightening – even if it is beautiful and fascinating to look at as a tourist. The shopping mall at Kievskaya railway station takes advantage of the cloud cover and projects a colour gradient into the sky.
