Collective Past

One interesting aspect that Russians have in common is that they had an almost identical product culture during the Soviet era. In Switzerland, on the other hand, it was rather normal to own some local products (from the village carpenter or the specialist shop in the neighbouring village) and thus regional differences can also be discerned. In Russia, nearly everyone had the same products to choose from – if you can speak of a selection at all. Collective memory still connects society today, including the young, who have never experienced the Soviet Union.
